Wet areas – like bathrooms – need extra care to keep stone and tile surfaces in best condition.
Areas that stay wet longer are more likely to experience mould growth, moisture ingress (leaking), and staining. They also become much harder to clean. We find this is most often the case in tiled showers, but can apply anywhere in a bathroom environment.
Soaps, shampoos, and body wash are often slightly acidic, which will eat away at an acid-sensitive stone like marble or limestone. This makes it dull and lifeless, or visible marks appear where it is most damaged.
Traditional off-the-shelf cleaning products are a tiled bathroom’s worst enemy! Usually acidic and/or abrasive, they are the single biggest cause of damage that we see in a tiled bathroom.
